Band Interview
Springing from the jaws of hell itself, TsHiZABi (pronounced Shizsabi) hits the streets of Hollywood, CA with their new sound, showing all the posers out there how to be. I met TsHiZABi's bass/vocalist, Matt, while I was in Hollywood, and I had to have these tunes on my site. So here's the lowdown on this up and coming act-How and when did you guys start? "One night Matt was playing cards and listening to lounge music in upstate NY with the original singer, Shannon, and it was decided that it was overdue for them to work together... TsHiZABi was born, and we began writing, and seeking other members. Fast forward a few years: Matt and Dex (guitars/vocals) relocated to LA where they hooked up with Dave (drums/samples), and the current incarnation of the band was established." Before he handed me the CD, Matt told me-"if you like Mr. Bungle-you'll like this," and the band also lists Primus, Slipknot, Nuclear Rabbit, Dillinger Escape Plan and more among their influences, saying, "We like to keep it interesting and try to do a little bit of everything." What is this band all about? "Sex, Drugs and Rock'N'Roll" That's awesome guys, and I can attest to it. I had the pleasure of seeing this band in person. I was treated to girls getting near naked, shots flowing, good hard music, and an all-around good time. Thanks for having me out guys!!! How many CD's have you releases thus far? "We have 3 E. P.'s and one full length album. Only the first E. P. and the full length ever had CDs made. The other two were strictly downloaded releases. The only one we still distribute is our full length, we've decided not to title it or any of our releases." What is the Punk Scene like in Hollywierd and are you glad you play there or do you wish you were in a less competitive market? "If we wanted to be in a less competitive market we would have kept our asses in upstate NY, playing in a hollowed out motor home, and lugging our shit down to the city for weekends for shows in dive bars. Besides, we don't sound like any bands that are part of the scene, so it's not as much competitive as it is saturated. Just about every scene we've been around has 90% crap, and 10% struggling artists who really deserve the credit getting frustrated that you have to be a part of a 'scene' to get your music heard by the assholes who cut the checks...can you tell we are anti-establishment?"
