Band Interview
Enter, stage right-World Lost, from Delaware. This 4 piece thrash metal band really tears it up in their debut album, Season in Black. I caught up with the guys to get some more info, and this is what I learned...How and when did you guys start? "We started out in 2006 as friends just jammin in a basement. The idea was to just record some stuff for laughs. We thought it would be cool to play a show or two and things got busy fast." Well, when you have something good, that's generally the way it goes!!! We're all glad you guys moved out of the basement! What are you all about? "We are all about the music. I know that sounds cliche but it's the truth. You work hard all week and Metal lets you unload any anger or frustration you may have. It's definitely a drug." Isn't that the truth, I think we've all got it in our blood! What groups would you go well with? "We would go with almost anyone. All of us pull from so many influences that you hear in our music." And what bands are your biggest influence? "Pantera, Metallica, Slayer, In Flames, Sabbath, alot of the old thrash bands." You guys named some of my favorite acts, I guess great minds think alike! When asked what music they listen to, the response was great, "We all listen to different stuff. Anything really, except the poppy shit. Alot of stuff on the radio nowadays is garbage. Except for satellite radio. Found some really kick ass bands from satellite." Me too, guys. How many CDs do you have released? "We have the one CD out now (Season in Black). We're heading to the studio in late Feb. early March to make another." Well, don't forget out me when the new CD comes out! So I had to ask, what is the best and worst thing about the metal scene as you've experienced it in Delaware? "It's actually pretty good. The scene is small but there are some really really awesome bands here. The only downside is that there are not a lot of clubs/bars here that allow heavy music. You eventually have to spread out to other states, PA, MD, NJ, etc." That's a shame guys, but if anybody wants to open a metal club with no existing competition.... I asked the guys, too, what differences they see in the European metal scene compared to that in America. "Seems that metal and heavy music is much more accepted as mainstream in Europe. I mean they sing Iron Maiden songs on Finnish Idol. How kick ass is that. In the States it seems that cash is king. There are a lot more bands here that aren't given a chance because they're not the 'fad' at the time and that's a shame." Everything you said was true, and I think I'm moving to Finland!!! So, I gave the guys an opportunity to shout and they wanted you to know "SUPPORT LOCAL AND UNDERGROUND MUSIC!!! Go to shows, buy a t-shirt, buy a CD and talk to people. You would be surprise what you can find when you look. Pantera and Slayer were all small club bands at one time. Myspace is also an awesome place to find bands as well.
